The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), previously known as the Health Care Financing Administration (HCFA), is a federal agency within the United States Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) that administers the Medicare program and works in partnership with state governments to administer Medicaid, the State Children's Health Insurance Program (SCHIP), and health insurance portability standards.

Basic Stand Alone Medicare Hospice Beneficiary PUF

This release contains the Basic Stand Alone (BSA) Hospice Beneficiary Public Use Files (PUF) with information from Medicare hospice claims. The CMS BSA Hospice Beneficiary PUF is a beneficiary-level file in which each record is a beneficiary who had at least one hospice claim from a random 5 percent sample of Medicare beneficiaries. There are some demographic and claim-related variables provided in this PUF.
